Snow Removal Contractors

Working in the Town

Attention all Snow Removal Contractors:

Please be advised that snow on your customers’ property must remain on your customers’ property and shall not be stored in the town right-of-way or streets. Disposing of snow in roadways or right-of-ways will affect your customers’ neighbors as well as the town snow plow operations. In many cases the town right-of-way is fifteen feet from the edge of the asphalt.

The Town Code 10-1-14-D states, “No person shall plow, shovel, or otherwise deposit or cause to be deposited, any snow upon any public way or any portion thereof. It is a specific defense to a charge of violating this subsection that the snow was shoveled or swept directly from a sidewalk in front of a residence in a residential area, and that the snow so deposited did not impair the use of the street by vehicular traffic. The provisions of the subsection do not apply to persons brushing off snow which has accumulated naturally upon a motor vehicle parked on or driven upon a public way.”

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact Mark Johnston, Streets & Parks Manager at markj@townofbreckenridge.com or (970) 453-3179.
