Rock Climbing Wall

In the Recreation Center expansion of 1996, the Eldorado climbing wall was built, which converted a racquetball court into 1,400 square feet of climbing. This wall was constructed using a “freeform” method allowing for a wider range of features and realistic design. This wall has areas for bouldering, 3 top ropes, and 10 lead climbing lines.

Rules and Regulations of the Climbing Wall

Belay Rides

You must be 6 years or older to participate in a belay ride. No exceptions. If you are under the age of 6 you must be participating in a program to climb.

Certified Climbers

All climbers climbing on their own must be certified. (Certification means to pass a skill check, testing proper belay technique and other pertinent skills to climb safely.) This includes bouldering, top rope, and lead climbing. All certified climbers are entered into a database. If you are unsure if your certification is current, please ask one of our friendly staff members.

Certifications skills checks take place everyday from 12 - 6 p.m. Please contact the instructor on duty to confirm availability. 

Adults can belay their children as long as the parent is certified and there is an instructor available to oversee the process. The child doesn’t have to be certified in this case.
You must be at least 12 years old to be bouldering certified.
You must be at least 14 years old to be top rope or lead certified.

Private Instruction and Programs

Some of our programs offered are for kids younger than six. If someone under the age of six wants to climb, they can enroll into an appropriate program or sign up for a private lesson.

Anyone under the age of 14 must be accompanied by a parent while climbing. No exceptions.
