Obtaining Records and Background

Most police reports are public information and can be obtained simply by filling out a request form.

To obtain copies of police reports, please contact the Records Division at (970) 453-2941 during business hours which are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Copies of police incident and accident reports are $.25 page. Police reports are usually not available to be released for 3 to 5 business days.

To obtain a Town of Breckenridge background check, you must come to the police department during business hours. The cost is $10.00.  The Breckenridge Police Department also provides fingerprinting services to residents and businesses of the Town at a cost of $20.00.  Non-profit organizations located with the Town Limits of Breckenridge are eligible to have their staff members and/or volunteers printed free of charge.  Fingerprinting services are generally available Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.  

You may obtain a State of Colorado background check by contacting the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.
