Project Updates & Description: The Town of Breckenridge is moving forward with the next phase of the Main Street Revitalization Project. This phase of the project will include intersection bulb-outs, surface improvements, sidewalk and crosswalk enhancements, improved storm sewer, and street light improvements at Adams, Jefferson, and Park Intersections. The improvements scheduled for these intersections will be very similar to the improvements constructed on North Main Street in the spring of 2012. Construction is scheduled to occur from April 22nd until June 28th. Main Street will remain open to southbound traffic for the entirety of the project, while northbound traffic will be detoured onto Park Avenue.

Proposed Schematic Design of the Intersection of Adams and Main Street
Project Background: In 2004, the Town selected a design consultant to help study Main Street and the surrounding areas in an effort to identify possible enhancements to Main Street that would improve the already successful downtown experience. The result of the study provided guidelines to the Town Staff that included: providing more hardscape walking areas for pedestrians, enlarging the corners of the intersection to allow for pedestrian staging off of the traveled road, improving crosswalks at the intersections to minimize crossing distance, enhancing way-finding signs to public buildings, and selectively removing vegetation to enhance visibility to businesses. The master concept was approved by Town Council in 2006, followed by recent construction projects at Lincoln, Washington, Wellington and Watson.
