The Town of Breckenridge Green Team purchased an economical SOLARSHEAT and had the Public Works Department install it on the Schoonover Building at 110 Ski Hill Road. The installation was completed on May 15, 2008. The unit cost just $2,000 and is a passive solar air collector, rated for 6,000 Btu per day to heat 750 square feet when the sun is shining. Basically it recycles and heats the air in the building on sunny days (of which Colorado has many!) without a need for electrical power. Feel free to wander by and see the installation, which is immediately to the left of the entry door to the Schoonover Building, just a short walk east of Town Hall on Ski Hill Road. The unit is very easy to install and very easy to expand by adding more collectors.
