About Us

Please Note:  The ski area closes for the season on April 14th.  We will have a transitional schedule in place for April 15-19th.  Summer operations for the Free Ride Transit System begins on April 20, 2013 and will continue through November 9, 2013.  We will have some timetable changes occur on June 15th and sometime in September, so check back to the website for up-to-date information.  Please see the route schedules on-line, use our Interactive Schedule, check the bus stops for departure times, or there is a downloadable map schedule located on our home page. Printed schedule maps are also available on any Free Ride bus or inside Breckenridge Station.  November 2012 marked the Free RIde's 15th year of service.  Thank you for taking a Free Ride!   We look forward to getting you where you need to go.

Breckenridge Green Transit VehiclesWhat is the Free Ride?

Whether you are vacationing with the entire family, enjoying a relaxing weekend for two or making your way to work, the Breckenridge FREE RIDE is designed to make your transit experience a pleasant one.

Each color-coded bus route is specially designed to move you within the Town of Breckenridge absolutely free of charge and with ease. View the System Map to determine which buses travel to your desired destination.  There is generally never more than one transfer required to get most anywhere within the Town. Next, view the Route Map to determine the name of your closest bus stop. Then, either use the Interactive Schedule or view the on-line timetable for the route.  All scheduled service times listed are Departure Times, are traffic and weather permitting, and are listed in minutes after the hour.   For example, "0:15" means that the bus departs the listed bus stop at fifteen minutes after each hour, during the normally scheduled operating hours.  Multiple times listed for the stop indicate that the stop has a bus departing more frequently and at the times listed.

The Free Ride Transit System also connects you to the Summit Stage, the free bus system for Summit County. The Summit Stage has buses departing from Breckenridge Station.  We also work very closely with the Breckenridge Ski Area to ensure locals and guests make it to their destination on the mountain.  If you have any questions about the Town or our transit system, please feel free to ask one of our friendly transit operators.

The Free Ride is a public transportation system that is operated by the Town of Breckenridge and the Breckenridge Ski Resort. The Free Ride Transit System is proud to have some Diesel Electric Hybrid buses and other green vehicles in its fleet.  The Town of Breckenridge is committed to making strides towards becoming a Green Community.

All schedule times are traffic and weather permitting.
Hours of Operation 6:15 am - 11:45 pm, 7 days a week.
