General Job Responsibilities and Requirements:
The Town of Breckenridge Recreation Department is seeking a customer service oriented individual for the position of Youth Recreation Attendant- BMC Summer Camp Counselor. This position is responsible for planning and leading camper activities which may include arts and crafts, swimming, gym games, music, climbing, biking and ice skating. Counselors are responsible for interacting with the campers and parents, and being accountable for the campers at all times. Counselors are responsible for overall camper safety on-site and on field trips. Counselors will also help supervise Counselor-in-Training participants ages 13-16. Campers are split into 4 age groups (5-6 1/2 Pikas, 6 1/2 - 7 Bears, 8-9 Eagles, 10-12 Extremes). Applicants should have experience working with children aged as young as 5 and as old as 12 years. Camp counselor experience is preferred but not required.
All counselors MUST have a valid Colorado Driver's License by May 20, 2013. Counselors will be responsible for driving a 13 passenger mini bus & 15 passenger vans with children on board throughout the summer.
Due to Colorado State Licensing all counselors MUST present an unofficial copy of college transcripts and 2 letters of recommendation on May 20, 2013.
Qualified applicants must be able to work shifts including 7:45am- 6pm, M-F. June 3- Aug 16. Mandatory week long staff training will be held May 20-24 and may have up to 30 - 40 hours per week. In addition to said schedule, Rec. Department staff may be required to work other shifts including: days, nights, weekends and holidays as needed.
Basic CPR, AED, and First Aid Certifications are required within 60 days of hire. The position also requires the ability to pass a Criminal background check, as described below.
