What is Resource Wise?

Resource Wise (formerly SustainableBreck Business Program) is a partnership between the Town of Breckenridge and High Country Conservation Center.  SustainableBreck businesses across town have had positive impacts on our community by reducing their carbon emissions, energy use, and waste, as well as improving recycling, composting, and purchasing practices. Many of these businesses have streamlined operations and saved money doing it.

How does it work?

Resource Wise is a free program designed to help businesses improve the sustainability and energy efficiency of their operations. When a business enrolls, HC3 staff perform Sustainability and Energy Assessments to learn more about the business. The business then receives two reports and an initial score based on the results of these assessments. We also provide our top recommendations for improvement and can help businesses identify and complete a project. Any business that completes an energy or sustainability project can receive a rebate covering 50% of the cost up to $400.

Certification in the Resource Wise program is based on a point system. Once a businesses achieves at least a 60% on our scorecard, the business can become certified. There are four different levels of certification, each with increased benefits. We encourage all businesses to set a goal for the level they wish to achieve and work to get there! All certified businesses receive free marketing outreach from HC3.
