Town of Breckenridge Releases 2026 Municipal Election Information

BRECKENRIDGE, CO – The Town of Breckenridge holds its regular Municipal Election on Tuesday, April 7, 2026. Voters residing within Breckenridge town limits will elect three (3) Town Council members during this election. Each of the three open seats carries a four-year term, and the three candidates receiving the highest number of votes will be elected.

Residents interested in running for Breckenridge Town Council must meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Be a Colorado registered voter
  • Have resided within incorporated Breckenridge town limits for at least 12 months prior to the election (unincorporated areas of Summit County are not eligible)

Candidate information, including the candidate packet, quick reference guide of important dates and a recording of the December 11, 2025, Candidate Information Session are available on the Town’s Candidate Information page. Candidate nomination petitions become available in the office of the Breckenridge Town Clerk on January 6, 2026, at Breckenridge Town Hall (150 Ski Hill Road, Breckenridge, CO 80424). Completed nomination petitions are due in person to the office of the Breckenridge Town Clerk by close of business on January 26, 2026.

The Breckenridge Town Council Candidate Forum on March 11, 2026 (location TBA). The forum allows candidates to state priorities and positions and is open to the community to pose questions to the candidates. Election Day is April 7, 2026. Ballots may be dropped off at Breckenridge Town Hall until 7:00pm on election day.

Additional information on running for Town Council or voting can be found on the Town of Breckenridge Elections page. Voters may register or update their voter registration online through GoVoteColorado.gov, managed by the Colorado Secretary of State.
