Breckenridge Comprehensive Plan Succeeds in Engaging the Community

Public Immersive Presentation Planned for September 22-23

BRECKENRIDGE, CO – Town of Breckenridge Community Development staff presented on-going public outreach efforts for the town’s new Comprehensive Plan at the August 25, 2026, Town Council work session. Consultants from Logan Simpson presented visuals and data detailing public engagement events during the first data-collection phase of the plan. Events held from early March to mid-August included in-depth workshops with town staff, focus groups with Summit High School students, open-ended English and Spanish public listening sessions, in-person drop-in events across town, and a sold-out public speaker panel on June 2, 2026, at the Eclipse Theater. To date, more than 800 participants have provided feedback on the plan.

Public feedback was used by the consultant team to define community priorities and key themes. Workforce housing affordability and supply was the “single most universal priority across every engagement,” as noted in the presentation, followed by parking, transit and mobility, and redevelopment opportunities. Community comments were collected to inform ideas and opportunities for the future of Breckenridge. Ideas were also mapped to areas of town to propose initiatives and specific projects, such as a car-free pedestrian mall on Main Street or improvements to pedestrian crossings at Ski Hill Road and Park Avenue, among many others.

Logan Simpson’s next task is to translate the public’s ideas into visuals so people can gain a sense of how they would look and feel on a human scale. On September 22 and 23, 2026, the community is invited to experience a guided interactive presentation at the Riverwalk Center. The presentation will feature “flythroughs” of four 3D immersive-experience screens illustrating how community goals might be realized. Participants will be asked for additional feedback during the presentations which will form the goals and policies behind the final comprehensive plans due by December 31, 2026.

Pre-registration is highly encouraged for the immersive experience at the Riverwalk Center, which will be offered in both Spanish and English in 45-minute sessions throughout both days. Registration will be available the week of September 7th.
