Council and Community Goals
Our Vision: A thriving balance between quality of life for residents and quality of place for visitors.
Breckenridge is built on a shared vision: a community where people can live well, work
meaningfully, and welcome visitors without losing the character and charm that make this
place so special. To guide us, the Town created a Destination Management Plan. A 10-year
roadmap designed to sustain our economy while preserving both the everyday lifestyle of
residents and the authentic mountain experience our visitors cherish.
Our Strategic Goals
The Breckenridge Town Council, together with our community, established four strategic goals that shape the future of our year-round visitor economy. These goals guide how public and private partners work together to protect what matters most while planning for thoughtful growth. Each goal is supported by specific initiatives, clear objectives, and accountability through the people and organizations responsible for carrying them forward.
DMP Goals include:
- Deliver Balanced, Year-Round Economy
- Hometown Feel & Authentic Character
- More boots and bikes, less cars
- Leading Environmental Stewardship
Community-Driven Future
These goals were shaped through months of collaboration, one-on-one interviews with stakeholders, small workshops with local organizations, and large town hall meetings where residents voiced their priorities. That same spirit of engagement will guide us moving forward. Tourism remains the lifeblood of our economy, but managing growth responsibly is essential to protect the lifestyle that draws people to call Breckenridge home. By working together, residents, industry, and Town leadership, we can ensure Breckenridge continues to thrive as a vibrant, welcoming, and resilient mountain community.
