General Submittal Information
The Town of Breckenridge requires any project where structural work is proposed to be stamped by a Colorado Licensed Design Professional. For projects reviewed under the Residential Building Code (IRC) the Town accepts all Colorado Licensed Design Professionals. For projects to be reviewed under the International Building Code (IBC), structural drawings must be stamped by a Colorado Licensed Engineer. Digital stamps are acceptable when applicable.
The most important step in the permit process is the submittal and review of building plans. The purpose of the plans is to provide a detailed written document of the scope of your project in addition to the permit application. All projects require two sets of proposed plans, and two sets of existing plans. Plans must be detailed, legible and labeled appropriately.
Depending on the scope of your project, there may be other entities in addition to the Building Department that need to review your plans and approve them. Be sure to bring your complete submittal to the Building Department and a staff member will assist you in the appropriate entities that need to approve your project.
