The Town of Breckenridge is committed to removing dead and infested trees to reduce wildfire hazards, reducing Mountain Pine Beetle (MPB) activity, promoting regeneration, and retaining existing valuable understory and healthy tree species not susceptible to MBP on Town of Breckenridge property.

Through the evaluation of aerial maps, fuel modeling and field assessments, natural resource experts agree that our area is experiencing a stand replacement dynamic that could result in a massive wildfire with significant impacts to the watershed. Hence, the Town will continue to conduct removals based on resource availability and in compliance with the Forest Health Program's short and long term goals.

If you would like more history on the Town's Forest Health Program, please see the Forest Health Chapter of the SustainableBreck Plan. You can also view the SustainableBreck Forest Health monitoring page.
