In August of 2017, the Breckenridge Town Council adopted a goal of reaching 100% renewable energy for municipal facilities and operations by 2025. Following that resolution on November 14, 2017, the Town Council adopted a second resolution setting a goal of reaching 100% renewable electricity town-wide by the year 2035.

This graphic describes SustainableBreck's goal to reduce carbon footprint.

The Town recognizes that attaining the community-wide goal will require a strong partnership with our utility provider.  We are working with Xcel to move away from fossil fuel sources of energy production to renewables like wind and solar.  The Town has taken the first steps in this journey, recently entering into a Memorandum of Understanding which outlines the Town's intent toward 100% renewable energy.
