Establishment Eligibility

Eligibility for transfer of an existing liquor license establishment is based on whether or not the current establishment is in good tax standing with both the Town of Breckenridge and the Colorado Department of Revenue.

Public Hearing

A Public Hearing is required for all new applications of a liquor license. 12-47-311 (1) C.R.S. states a hearing on a new application cannot be less than 30 days from the date of initial application.   No exceptions. At time of hearing an applicant will be required to present the reasonable requirements of the neighborhood and the desires of the citizens.  The Town Clerk will give you suggestions to accomplish this requirement. (Evidence for Public Hearings , Sample Petition and Affidavit of Circulator ).

Hearing dates are set for the third Tuesday of every month. Expect 8 – 10 weeks for the processing, approval and issuance of a new liquor license. This time frame includes the 30 days pursuant to 12-47-311 (1) C.R.S. during which time, processing and background checks are being conducted. A concurrent review of a new application is possible for an additional fee and will take approximately 2 weeks off of the processing time.
