Xpress BillPay is currently experiencing a heavy load on their website, making the site currently unavailable to customers during peak usage daytime hours. Town Finance and IT Staff have spoken with representatives from Xpress BillPay to relay our concerns regarding this inconvenience for our customers. They apologize for the inconvenience and recommend using the site between 6pm & 8am MDT as they work to resolve the problem created by unusually high traffic.

If you are unable to access Xpress BillPay during these recommended times, you may access a paper return here. Mail the return along with a check to Town of Breckenridge PO Box 1517, Breckenridge, CO 80424. Returns are entered utilizing the postmark date on the envelope as the date filed. Paper filing fees will be waived until May 1, 2020.

Note that tax returns with $0 in tax due will not have penalty or interest applied and can be remitted at a later date.

Due to these challenges presented by the outage of Xpress BillPay, penalty and interest will be waived for all March 2020 & Q1 tax returns until May 1, 2020.

 Procedure for Online Tax Filing

The Town of Breckenridge is committed to economical and ecological solutions that improve processes.  We are looking for ways to get things done better, faster, and cheaper, and are pleased to announce our online sales tax filing system.  In anticipation of the online system, tax booklets were not sent this year.  We will be converting to a paperless system over the next couple years.  In the future the Town of Breckenridge may not accept paper returns, or move to phasing out a paper return.  A paperless process will eliminate the need for postage expense and the time required to mail a check every period.

Town of Breckenridge has chosen Xpress Bill Pay for our online sales tax filing system (see information below).  Letters were sent to tax filers at the end of August 2013.  You will need this letter when you log into for the first time.  Individuals that pay their Utility Bill (water) for the Town of Breckenridge through Xpress Bill Pay will already have a log in.  Otherwise, you will create a new login and use your Account Number and PIN to access your account online.  You can even pay your sales tax on your smart phone while in your pajamas! And the best part is Xpress Bill Pay does the math for you.

Inability to use the new Online Sales Tax system does not relieve you of your duty to file & remit all taxes in a timely manner. Please contact us if you are experiencing difficulty.  Line by Line Instructions may be found in the General Tax Information Guide.  We recommend that you review this document in its entirety.

It is also important to note that we have a separate form for filing sales tax on the “sale of assets other than inventory.” If you are planning to sell or purchase an existing business, please be sure that the correct amount of sales tax is collected on the sale of all tangible personal property, not included in inventory, associated with the sale. These items include, but are not limited to, computers, desks, chairs, tables, mattresses, etc. Sale of assets also applies to furnishings purchased with the sale of a home. This form is due on the 20th of the month following the sale.
